Texas PTA – Under the Dome January 2011 The actions of legislative bodies can have a profound effect on the education and well-being of children, and Texas PTA serves as the voice for Texas children in many legislative endeavors. Texas PTA supports legislation that improves health, well-being and educational opportunities for every child. Successful implementation of our legislative positions is characterized by people working together to assure wise legislative decisions through knowledge of the process and an understanding of the issues. January 20, 2009 Members of the Walker PTA, As our school has grown and changed over the last ten years it has become apparent that we needed to make changes to our PTA organization to meet the needs of our school community. In 2009 the PTA organized a special committee to review and revise our Bylaws and Standing Rules to reflect those needs. Through this process several amendments were recommended by the committee and were voted on by the PTA executive board on January 13, 2009. The PTA voted in a regular meeting on February 20, 2009 to accept the new amendments to the bylaws and the revision of the standing rules. Copies of the new Bylaws and Standing Rules are posted on the PTA Bulletin Board at Walker. You may also download a copy from the Walker PTA website. If you have any questions please contact PTA President Kathryn Lewis (kathrynl@ncms-inc.com) or Parliamentarian Dindra McFadden (dintroy@tx.rr.com). The following list includes all amendments to the Bylaws with rationale and an explanation to the revision of the Standing Rules.
