The Parent Link

Hello Walker Star Parents! This year our Walker Star students will be participating in a powerful program called Rachel’s Challenge. This amazing program inspires and encourages thousands of students each year to “start a chain reaction” of kindness and compassion and it empowers them to make a difference in their world.

Walker PTA is a proud supporter of the Rachel’s Challenge program. Our children’s hearts will be greatly impacted by this program at school. It is the goal of Walker PTA to help with ways that parents and families can make this connection at home as well. So we would like to introduce The Parent Link.

 Students will be creating paper chain links throughout the year, with statements of kind and compassionate acts that they witness others doing. The chains will stretch through the classrooms and out into the hallways as kindness and compassion spreads throughout our Walker community. We hope that this not only becomes a way of life at school, but at home too. So as a way for parents to feel connected and “linked” to this very special program, we encourage you to talk with your child about what they are learning through Rachel’s Challenge and help them find ways to show kindness and spread compassion at home within their family and community.

If your child does something to show kindness at home, we would love to share that with the Walker community by adding Links from Home to our acts of kindness chain at Walker. White chain links for parents to fill out with Acts of Kindness their child does at home are available in the Walker Elementary Main Office and you may pick them up as you need them. You can return these links to the Walker Elementary Office. We are so excited to offer this connection between school and home and we hope to see lots of white chain links as our Chain of Kindness grows!
